It was just one task to recover the taken-for-granted.
There were others. Such as: simply recover.
There were others. Such as: simply recover.
And then? And then consider
there's no time off for good behavior,
there's no time off for good behavior,
that the city was a carnival of incandescent streets
but also a dim labyrinth, that the beloved bridge
but also a dim labyrinth, that the beloved bridge
connecting two wonders of solid ground
provided as well a jumping-off point
provided as well a jumping-off point
for those who had lost heart.
That some roads, no matter how far
That some roads, no matter how far
they take you, will double back.
And then? And then consult the window
And then? And then consult the window
for weather. Put on some clothes
and good intentions. Begin again.
and good intentions. Begin again.

welcome home, Korinda
ReplyDeleteKorinda, I would like your permission to re-post some of your autumn photos from northern Oregon and Washington on a website I maintain . . . www.pcttrailsidereader.com I would give you full credit and link to your blog. I'm sorry that you didn't quite make it to the border but there is always next year!
ReplyDeleteAre you aware of the current search for a missing PCT NoBo hiker? You may have had contact with him during your journey? Anything you can think of may help. see Facebook page Bring Kris Fowler/Sherpa Home. He was last seen on October 12 in Packwood/White Pass. If you saw him north of this point it is very important that you speak with authorities. Thank you and congrats on your journey!
